Tawasul-Tech Mobile Repair Shop Floor — Al Bathaa, Riyadh

Tawasul-Tech is a small mobile-phone repair shop inside the busy Al Bathaa market area of Riyadh. The shop opens directly onto the market corridor, so the floor is one of the first things customers see before they reach the service counter. The existing floor was covered with dark grey wood-look tiles. Their repeated grain pattern, visible joints and worn edges made the narrow shop feel heavier than it was, especially beside the light wall panels, bright ceiling lights and blue phone graphics already covering the interior. The owner did not want another patterned floor competing with the walls and branding. He wanted the entrance and repair area to read as one calmer space, while keeping a clear transition from the grey tiled market corridor outside. The project was therefore less about the size of the shop and more about changing how the small open-front space felt from the walkway.

The new floor was planned around the shop’s existing colours rather than treated as a separate design element. A warm sand-gold tone was chosen to sit between the cool grey wall panels and the strong blue graphics above them. The colour brings warmth into the narrow unit without making the floor louder than the phones, signage and illuminated ceiling. The work stayed within the shop boundary, preserving a clean visual break at the open entrance where the new surface meets the original grey corridor tiles. Inside, the former tile grid disappeared beneath one uninterrupted field, allowing the small room to read from front to back without repeated lines cutting across it. The hand-finished movement was kept visible rather than made perfectly uniform, giving the floor a natural character that changes slightly under the ceiling lights. Tawasul-Tech now has a warm, continuous shop floor that is clearly separated from the dark grey market corridor outside. From the entrance, the sand-gold tone leads the eye into the repair space and softens the combination of grey wall panels, blue graphics and bright white lighting. The old wood pattern and the network of tile joints no longer dominate the small room. The finished surface also gives the open-front unit a more deliberate identity. Customers walking through the market can now distinguish the shop interior immediately, even before the counters and repair equipment are returned to their positions. The project was completed on 29 July 2026, leaving the shop ready for its internal setup and return to normal use.
