The client operated a children's activity center in Taif with standard tile flooring that had cracked grout lines and uneven surfaces after years of heavy foot traffic. Beyond the wear and tear, the client wanted the floor itself to serve a functional purpose — colored pathways that guide children to different rooms and zones without needing wall signage. Traditional tiles could not achieve seamless curved lines across an open floor plan, and vinyl wraps were rejected due to peeling concerns in a high-traffic environment.
We removed the existing damaged tiles and prepared the concrete substrate mechanically to achieve proper adhesion. The full area of 120 square metres was coated with a dark grey microcement base applied in two structural layers — each hand-troweled and left to cure before the next. Once the base was fully set, we masked off the curved line patterns using flexible tape and applied each colored line individually — white, yellow, red, and blue — matching the room door colors for intuitive wayfinding. Each line required its own masking, application, and curing cycle to prevent color bleeding. After all lines were complete, we sealed the entire floor with two coats of high-traffic polyurethane sealer rated for commercial use. The full process took 8 days including curing between stages.
The floor transformed from cracked tiles into a seamless dark grey surface with vibrant colored pathways flowing naturally between rooms. Children now follow the lines instinctively — blue line to the blue door, red line to the red door — without any staff direction needed. The polyurethane sealer has held up well with daily mopping and heavy foot traffic over the past year and a half with zero peeling or fading on the colored lines.

“We wanted something different for the kids and they absolutely nailed it. The colored lines on the floor actually work — kids follow them on their own now. Floor has been holding up great even with all the running around and daily cleaning. Worth every riyal.”
