The homeowner had a newly built staircase with plain concrete finish that looked rough and unfinished. The existing surface did not match the modern interior design of the villa. The client wanted a seamless, smooth finish that would give the staircase a premium look without using traditional tiles or marble — something minimal and contemporary that connects visually with the rest of the home.
We started by inspecting the concrete staircase surface and preparing it mechanically to ensure proper adhesion. After profiling the surface, we applied a bonding primer followed by two structural coats of microcement — each hand-troweled to follow the exact shape of the stairs including edges, risers, and treads. The application required careful attention on the edges where stairs meet the wall to maintain clean, seamless lines. After the microcement cured, we applied two coats of protective polyurethane sealer to give the surface durability and a subtle satin finish. The entire process took 4 days including curing time between coats.
The staircase now has a completely seamless, smooth finish with a modern concrete look that matches the villa interior perfectly. The surface is durable, easy to clean, and slip-resistant. The client was impressed with how the stairs became a design feature in the home rather than just a functional element. No tiles, no grout lines — just clean, continuous surfaces from tread to riser.

“Honestly the stairs turned out way better than I expected. I was worried microcement might chip or crack on stairs but so far nothing after almost a year. Only thing is they took an extra day because of some primer issue but they fixed it and the final result was clean.”
